This is what my blog title was going to say when I tried to update our news from the hospital Thursday night, but I guess the hospital blocks certain sites. I knew it would be my last chance for awhile to spend any time on my blog, but alas, I've found a space of time now to update!!
On Tuesday night I started getting some major contractions. Not sure if it was the real thing or not, but we decided to head to the hospital at about 11:30 pm. My doctor was called and he said that we were having these babies. He appeared about 12:30 pm and they started the whole process. Well, at about 2:30 am they wheeled me into the surgery room, they wanted me in there in case I was going to have to have an emergency c-section. Well, no c-section was necessary, everything went so smoothly and fast! At 2:48 am baby A was born and at 2:50 am baby B was born. Baby B, which we named Paige, had to spend about 8 hours in the NICU being monitored and on oxygen for just a little while. She was having a hard time at first breathing and pinking up. I got to see and hold her for the first time at around noon that day. Baby A, which we named Kenedi, weighed 6 lbs 3 oz, and Baby B weighed 5 lbs 6 oz.
We feel so blessed that they were born when they did and that they are so healthy. It is really quite amazing that I was able to make it to 36 weeks. It's pretty rare. And to have such healthy babies is such a blessing. My doctor told me Friday morning that there was a lady now in labor and delivery at 31 weeks with twins threatening to deliver. After he left I just felt so blessed that Heavenly Father helped me and these twins to be healthy. We are so grateful and relieved!!
The babies and I came home from the hospital on Friday, the 30th at around noon. It was an exhausting day, but it sure is nice to be home. Last night was pretty rough, I think I got about 3 hours of sleep, broken up of course in one or two hour increments. I had a nap tonight from 8:30 to 10:30, so that should help me last through the night. I need to feed them every 3 hours so they can get fattened up and get rid of their slight jaundice. It's going to be a rough couple of weeks I think, but I'm sure it will get easier as time goes on.
Makell and Mason sure love these babies. Makell can't get enough of helping to feed them and of course pick out their outfits!! Mason says their names so cute and loves giving them kisses on the head.
We think there may be a chance that they are identical. My doctor thinks they might, and their nurse said that they have the same blood type, so she said that means another good indication that they might be identical. They do look quite similar, although Kenedi is a bit chubbier.
I'll try to post some pictures! It's been quite a week- glad to have them here safe and sound. Paige has the peach bow and Kenedi has the pink bow.
